What should I change? I'm going to do one as it is now, one where I seafoam and run a can of intake cleaner through my 340k mile motor, and I'll probably put in a higher value resistor to advance the Timing. Any other ideas?

Dumb and stupid.

I fail to see how running a healthy engine at the load and redline it was engineered for is going to blow it up, all the bearings are solid and it will sit at 125 mph quite comfortably. I've dynoed small blocks from the 60s with far more miles and they lived.

However, if you really believe the combo of seafoam is going to make the difference and/or along with, changing the R16 resistor....

On many discussion forums we have have read of the "free horsepower upgrade" available to those with M102 and M103 motors by way of removing or changing the value of the R16 ignition reference resistor. Many who perform this simple modification (generally removing R16) claim great results using...

Not much else in m103 m104 power upgrades, unless you add another few 00s to the 50 you have.
But then, for that kind of money, you can get yourself a nice replacement MB, latter model and fast(er).
Better $ spent gathering a few acorns for this ride, imo.

Honestly some of the reason I want to try changing the resistor is some people say it helps and some say it doesn't. I'd like to get a definitive answer once and for all.

I run a small YouTube channel so id also think it would be cool to actually see if seafoam makes a difference.


Plus even if nothing happens it's just 50 bucks going to a highschools auto program so good cause anyway.

And it has been its whole life as I know the previous 2 owners were harder on it than me...
