I didn't realize there were different types. When I replaced mine I just did so with the same number that was on the old one and it sounds like the ones you described as having "regular pleats".
I give up: Anyone know where to get the stepped filter?
Yeah, I know, I'm in the short grass anyway. 
But I was going to replace the AF and wanted -- just for fun -- to put in the stepped one like the factory used. Mehle, Hengst, Mann, everything I look at is the regular pleats.
Anyone have an online source for the stepped dog? Or I guess the brand that makes it?
