My sunroof just decided not to close. It will open, but not close. So I pulled out the manual and under practical hints it gave directions on what to do. Simple enough, I figured, even though I didn't have the toolkit, I decided to use a vicegrips and any sockets i could find that fit(16 or 17mm) Well the white plastic hex nut broke, and I got an ovalish shaped rod. I used the vicegrip on that and it doesn't move. Is there something I have to disconnect to disengage the power and switch it to manual? Thanks, M44

Ok, is it broke, or just stuck? When I lube the track, will it free up little by little?

1. See if the cable spins / is broken in the hosing , Do you hear drive motor noises .
2. If not bump roof and turn cable , to close the sunroof .
3. Determine if the motor drive is shot or the cable is broken . Access the end of the flex cable to turn it by hand , slow drill , pliers .
4. Your sunroof days are over for a while.

Ok, well I finally found some time to work on it a bit. I got the beauty panel off and, well, I was expecting the drive cable to be taught or something. But I can't see anything like that, did it break or sometihng? Here's a few pics.

Thanks, M44

Ok so I looked and I couldnt find any reference to the flex drive cable, but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. What can I do to at least get the roof closed?

Sorry for the delay .
I was looking at the photos , you need to get a wrench or tight fitting vice grip pliers on the center bolt . The one with two flats ( where the hand crank went ) , it should turn enough to move the roof . Spray lube the roof tracks before you go medieval on it . Sometimes back & forth , a bit at a time , is the best way .

Have a buddy "help " move the roof while you turn it . Your cable could be broken .

Sorry for the late response, I was gone the entire week. I'll try that and see what happens.
