Hello Guys and Girls.

This is my first post on here, I bought a 2009 C300 4 matic with 50,000 km for about 17k...good deal right.....well the problem is it has a hydrolocked engine.

I bought it knowing this, anyways my question is..do you think the dealership will cover it under warranty?? I doubt it but just thought I would ask...

The engine is knocking big time, and it even caused a dime sized hole in the bottom block.

anyways, There are used engines in the area for around 5 k...

let me know your opinions..and if they dont fix it (im almost certain they wont) what should i do??
should i just buy a used engine and get it installed...try and see if a machine shop can fix it...??

and and also..there is foresure collant mixed in with the oil...the cap has a chocolate milk consistancy to it

let me know guys...

thanks

Hydrolocked engines usually occur after driving in deep water, based on the driver's poor decision-making. Unless something quite unusual caused your engine damage, this is no more a warranty claim than the damage done after a crash.

Actually, it depends on the reason it hydro-locked. If indeed it was from driving into water, then no, it's not a warranty issue. But a failed head or gasket that allowed water into the combustion chamber would hydro-lock the engine, and absent evidence of abuse, tampering, etc. that is indeed a warranty claim.

If it is not a warranty claim, the oil/water mix in the crankcase means that the more expedient thing would be to buy a used engine and install it. Labor on rebuilding yours will be very, very costly, and add to that the expense of parts...well, you see my point.

Good luck.

I bought the car fully knowing this, if mercedes installes a new or used engine, then i have a 2009 c300 4 matic for 17000 canadian dollars, if not then i will have a fixed 2009 c300 4 matic for about 22000, ive been searching all over autotrader and kijiji and the cheapest one with alot higher km is around the 28000 dollar mark.

ill still be ahead!

thanks for your help

No warranty coverage in this situation.
