I will gladly endorse Klaus. He helped me tremendously when I was rebuilding the cylinders on both my cabriolets.

100% Klaus customer for life. I did all of the cylinders in my 1996 using his services and then did all of the cylinders in my 2002 using him. Absolutely top notch, crazy fast shipping an excellent products. I'd NEVER use anyone else!!

Sounds like he is looking for a Dennis

This has been the general feedback that Klaus gets so why even mess with anyone else? Even if you find Dennis I would still go to Klaus for any hydraulic needs.

Harley Joe is asking for contact details because two of the cylinders repaired by Dennis Ficken are leaking, and apparently they have a ten year guarantee.
I would imagine that the cylinder bores have been damaged so any new seal that is put in will leak again after a year or two.

Joe now has the time consuming job and expense of removing the cylinders again.
If it were me I would cut my losses and send them to Klaus at Top Hydraulics and have them professionally rebuilt.

Not only Klaus rebuilds cylinders for a very reasonable price but he also provides tremendous help through this forum. I remember last year on a Sunday morning I was putting back some cylinders I received back from Klaus. One of them was the infamous left bow extension cylinder with its micro switch which is a bit tricky to reinstall properly. After mounting everything back together the top would not operate. I posted a message for help and suggestion on this forum and on that same Sunday within 30mns I had a detailed response from Klaus with suggestions what to investigate which enabled me to solve my problem that same day.

I have had no personal interaction with Dennis on hydraulic repair, so I cannot comment about his process, but I do know that Top Hydraulics uses an improved material and design over the original MB components. The service I have received with my top cylinders and suspension valve went way beyond what I expected. The turn around time was nearly instant. The exchange program is amazing. You can change a cylinder at a time so you don't mix anything up and the down time is limited to your own speed :grin. As mentioned, Klaus donates tons of time he doesn't have helping us goofs when something goes to hell :crying. If I was the OP, I would send those cylinders to Top Hydraulics and forget about the original deal. The price is extremely fair, and the beauty is do it once and forget it. Why step over a dollar to pick up a dime. Go with a sure bet. As I said after repairing my own front cylinders, This is as close to a free lunch you will find in the world of Benz :grin

Joe, it's great to see you back posting on the forum albeit with with a problem that you should not have encountered. I just hope that none of the other repaired cylinders fail!!!!

Thank goodness we now have Top Hydraulics that do a "better than original" rebuild.

As an aside, last year the hydraulic steering rams on my boat were leaking.
Klaus, as a favour, made me some custom made seals of a superior quality to the OEM seals.
He still has to take up my offer of Tuna fishing in the Straits of Gibraltar :)

I guess that's why you can't find Dennis any longer. I'll also vouch for Klaus' rebuild services and technical savvy. He rebuilt all 11 of my cylinders...no problems whatsoever! :smile

That will have to wait for availability of Tony's Jet as Albert already reserved it for 'our' trip to visit Chicky.
