I cant get the reservoir to seat back into the master cylinder. I have even tried with clamps to produce more pressure than my hands can. I also tried seating the grommets first and that doesn't work either.

Can anybody help?

Edit: Applied more pressure with clamps, seemed excessive but worked.

Did you dab the seals with brake fluid first?

Just did this on my 89 parts car (the seller had robbed the reservoir).

Really not too hard and, yes, you do have to lube the seals.
