I searched for basically that exact phrase and got zilch. I'm also at work taking a quick break and didn't want to spend the whole thing searching so I hope you can forgive that.

I finished the tie rods, UCAs, drag link and steering damper (EASY DIY if you're a little patient. If you have everything together, it's an afternoon job). While I was under there I got to looking at the rubber. It's cracked and peeling at each jack point with the beginnings of rust at all and some rust through at one.

What's the accepted fix for the rust through?

What's the accepted fix for the surface rust?

What's the accepted fix for cracked/missing rubber coat?

My thoughts are as follows:
1- weld on patches?
2- sand and
3- clean up rubber/sand back until a good spot sticking to the body is found then spray liberally with truck bed liner?

I don't know. Good question! I guess you'd want to make sure any product was compatible with the existing treatment.

I have a can of spray on rubberized undercoating that I got from Auto Zone or some damn where. Try that...

Flex-Seal: Try this stuff from Home Depot, Target, Wal-Mart or Lowes that is advertised on TV to spray-line gutters, flower pots and a screen door as the bottom of a small boat! Seems to seal pretty good. You can mask off the surrounding areas and spray away nice and neat. Comes in black, white and clear that I have seen.
