I accidentally broke a part in my CD Changer (002 820 5989) Model MC3196NA. I'm trying to figure out where I might get the part - it's a sliding potentiometer that senses the presence of the cartridge when it's inserted. I can't get any readings off it since I snapped the end off the part. It does have a number 719E printed in ink on it. I believe that the units are built by Alpine but I may be wrong about that. I thought about buying another unit on the web since they can be had for just over $100. Might be cheaper than taking it in for a repair. Any suggestions?

Thanks, but sending it cross-border for repairs just isn't practical from a cost perspective. Bob

when I damage such items, I often spend a while trying to fix them, if it proves unsuccessful, there comes a time when I then rag the component out of its position, smash it repeatedly with a hammer, or anything else close to hand, jump up and down on it for a while, then bin it and buy a new one.
