Be careful.....of my two water leaks in this vehicle, one was caused by a poorly fastened roof rack in the rear connection to the roof. It allowed water in that ran down the inside by the Infinity sub and pooled behind the rear wheel.

oh man, are you walking a thin line - get ready to get ripped a new one!

Understand, Hary Gahtoe does not ask for cautionary warnings or opinions.

He is wise beyond mortal man's comprehension. He defies the laws of nature. Water shall not dare enter his vehicle.

We can expect that Hary will state that he has driven with the top down on his CLK cab during torrential rainstorms, and he will swear that by God nothing got wet. He will assure us that HIS vehicles are impervious to water intrusion.

Yes, I second that. Rain came through and down to the rear SAMS unit. Ruined it. Can one snap the top cover off the roof rack mounts or must one remove the headliner and go through that way?? Is there an easy way?? please help--now afraid to take mine out in a rainstorm!

What the service rep at MB told me, but I didn't see for myself, is that they removed the headliner and most interior panels in the back. Then unbolted from the inside. They had my ML for two full days. Thankfully the warranty covered it all and they gave me a nice loaner for two days. But......the leak is back.

Sorry to hear after all that, the leaks back! Its never easy going back to a service center for the same problem.
It might be worth a stab; before going back to have someone on the outside hose the top/liftgate while you're on the inside to pinpoint the leak location to be sure the leak is truly the roof rack or something else.
I wish you good luck
