I bought the dipstick for checking the oil on my C55. When I try to insert it, it hits something solid and metallic before getting to any oil. Being "smart" I got a small diameter steel rod and tried, same result. Question: what could these items be hitting to prevent me from checking the oil?.

I use a length of clear plastic tubing , around 5mm diameter. available at most hardware stores.
It goes straight in without risking any damage , and also can take a small sample of oil if you want to see it .

What is the part number of the dipstick you bought? Should be 120 589 07 21 00.

Correct reading is 165mm.

Are you sure you’re not low on oil? And not in the trans tube?
