All repair shops get a 15- 20% discount on parts from the dealer. This worked twice for me. I called up Pepe Mercedes in Westchester, needed some parts for ML55. I told them that im calling from Gruda Auto (which is 3 blocks from my job)and need such and such parts and would be in to pick them up in an hour. When I arrived at the dealer I told them that im making a pickup for Gruda. They gave me the parts and on the reciept there was a 20% discount applied![;)]

That's normal. I get 20% off at all dealers when I give them I tax ID - I own an auto parts store.

Interesting.....

I'm sure Roy the parts manager would have an opinion of you surreptitious
manner of discount parts acquisition.

He's a good friend of mine, I won't mention this to him.

I went in to the MB dealer with a list of six online sources and their prices, $150 to $178 for an SL500 accelerator assembly. MB price was just over $200. I told them I prefer to support my local source, but it's hard when they are too high. He then offered 10% as the best he could do, about $180. I told him he was only $2 above the highest online, so I would give him the order. He appreciated that. Moral? It pays to go in prepared.
