here is one inexpensive way. of course there are others but in my head,
exceedingly more labor intensive (translucent panel using LED, etc). i've
lusted after the ambient lighting effect for some time, but the lines in my
ancient E320 just doesnt flow nor lend themselves to accentual lighting
such as modern S series lighting {sigh}

Hey Ray

those electrolumenience ropes run on ac power.So you would need to wire them into an inverter.

15 minutes ,some tiny leds,a few matching resistors and a moto tool to trim the wood and I could design a 12 volt system.Heck anyone with some soldering skills and a bit of know how around electronics could rig up something nicer than the picture.Mini flat leds in the 460 nanometer wave length would be pleasant:thumbsup:
:bowdown:

P.S. if you note the instructions for the EL rope
"One thing to note about the EL Cable: it emits a high pitch whine"

Something Like that would make me think twice. 2 teens still at home,I have enough whining
already :eek:

Not to discourage anyone, but the ropes also generate quite a bit of heat.....

Ok what about courtesy lights below your feet. Turns on when you open the door and dims when doors are closed. Where is this possible?
