Just ran across this, thought it was interesting. definitely would've helped me learn the differences between Euro and American spec. headlights.

Yeah, if you follow the links you will find the Jack Middlebrook SEC which in my opinion is the most beautiful SEC ever and is what inspired me to build mine to those same standards.

Here are photos of US DOT and Euro's on my car. Euro wipers,motor and amber corners are next so disregard the US wipers on Euro lights. I have since painted the inner frame door black on the Euro's. Looks much better than the gray/silver as shown.

I thought w126 U.S. SEC's had smooth headlights without the outer plastic after 1990...? Or 1991 or something..?

No. The US spec DOT Gen 2 lights are have the frames. The sealed beam was a US requirement. Euro's are a different story.
