How to access to the Y11 Valve strip?

Hello,
I was wondering how to access to the component Y11 called "Valve strip, 15-fold" or "switchover valve block".

I know where it is, but..

Is it necessary to take apart the dashboard completely or is it possible to access it from the right footwell in some way?

Great question and I have a 97 SL500. I’ve read some to say that the passenger airbag must come out but not sure how hard that is to do? Earlier cars had 1 bolt, ours may have a more complicated airbag mounting system. Are you trying to troubleshoot an HVAC vent flow issue like me? I ran the self-test to show open codes and it points to the vacuum line to my center vent air door - served by that valve block.

Remove the passenger side lower footwell cladding. Then look up and find the Y11. Unclipp the block and lower it into view in the footwell. Disconnect the battery negative terminal before you remove any electrical plugs.

No, mine works fine but I know the Y11 will brake, sooner or later.
Mine is a '96 EU model btw.
