Concerning the rarity of a 43, just remember that the production worldwide markets between 08' and 00' was around 3'100. Guess estimate that 50% still around? So it is a pretty rare vehicle. Price wise, I was reading that most old AMG models are not fetching highish prices unless they are spotless and fully documented, or like an official version of the 00' C55 version and why not a McLaren version. Yes they exist, but are rarer than hen's teeth.

The c43 is a relatively rare car, but don't let that get you into thinking it's a collector's car. The only ones who would be willing to pay a pretty penny for these cars are hardcore enthusiasts who REALLY want a c43, and even that is a rare occurrence in itself.

How many miles are on your c43? $10k would be plausible if yours is sitting at 50,000 miles or less, and is fully documented and in mint condition. Otherwise, price drops dramatically from there. It's safe to expect offers between $4,500 to $7,500 for a '98 with 100k+ miles.

As a point of reference, I moderate a w202 forum. I got my C43 for $4,400 in "good" shape with 240k miles. Another member just snagged one wiht 53k miles in "great" shape for $10,500.

I'd say that's about as good of a range as possible. Both those cars were bought for what they were WORTH. Regardless of where my car would fall in that spectrum, I'd add $2k to the estimated WORTH of the car, for some haggle room (unless I was desperate to sell).

But to answer your question: Yes. The C43 is quite rare, but doesn't really mean much these days. Despite how great and exceedingly rare it is, there's just not many people looking for one. Few cars, fewer enthusiasts who are chomping at the bit to buy one. It's a sad reality and a buyer's market.

/rant (I'm biased. LOVE the C36/C43)

Love my c43

190k miles, GREAT condition, full service history, e55 mono's, everything works, interior is amazing. id take $8k for it and be very happy. would rather keep it as a 3rd car if I could only get 5k for it, its too much fun to swap for a measly 5k cash

For frame of reference, there are 26,000 Dodge vipers in the world.

A little over 5,000 C43's.

Not sure how many of each year here in Australia, but apparently 60 cars in total from 98-00. They hardly come up often, i just bought my 99 last week.

$23,000 here if anyone is interested, but cars are considerably more expensive in Australia, so with 65,000 miles and as new condition, full service history, thats pretty reasonable.

There were only 101 C43's imported into Canada in the three years of production. 36 1998 C43's and 65 1999 C43's and 0 2000 C43's. There are less than half remaining due to accidents and write offs.

I got mine a couple of months ago. A physician had bought it new. I am the second owner.

It is very clean with 80 K Miles. Obsidian Black / Black interior.

Only problem, leaking O ring between the oil cooler and the oil filter housing, which I fixed already.

Paid 4800 for it. This price is very low for a lower mileage C43. I have seen cars with miles between 80 and 120 sell for 8K -- 10 K.
