An E320 '96 Elegance isn't offered exactly with that configuration in the States.
The USA Mercedes Benz come with almost every option included. The only adders are sunroof, GPS navigation, phone system, and now laser guided cruise control and parking systems.
There may be a few things left out, but they are marketed as top luxury in a market full of other choices from Infiniti, Lexus, BMW, Acura, Cadillac, etc
Comparing your E320 as if it had all these features and was a perfect car -- the tires are new or nearly so, the seats and carpet look like they were pulled from a new car, no small dings, the paint is shiny, etc. If it was this car, on the West Coast ( California ) home of high-priced Mercedes -- this car would sell for $7000 to $8000 USD
The 3.2 litre 6 is the smallest engine sold in California for the 96 model year. Other States could purchase the 3.0 litre diesel, but it didn't meet the California Clean Air standards.
I assumed 225,000 KM to be about 150,000 miles. My guess at a quote should apply from around 130,000m to 160,000.
The moral of this story? Mercedes are much less expensive in the States and cheapest on the East Coast. I think you will generally find them in much nicer condition -- treated to nice roads, garages, etc.
You can see posters here going through the trouble to export their beloved W210 after seeing what the choices looked like in other countries....
Edmunds.com has a forum dedicated to pricing out cars. You might want to log in there and pose your question. Let me know how far off I am....I'm curious [8D]
