How is hydraulic trunk closer pump mounted?

962 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  wallyp
I picked up an extremely loaded 04 S430 a couple weeks ago (Dynamic seats, keyless go, heated wheel, ventilated seats front and rear etc) and it has a new power trunk closer motor but it's just laying in the space next to the battery and not bolted down at all. Does anyone have pics or info on how it's supposed to be mounted? Also, when you do close the trunk, it comes down FAST like a guillotine. Is that normal?

I was hoping to find a part number for the foam tray or someone selling one on eBay but I can't find any examples anywhere.
Hey Nckwltn- thanks for posting the picture. That helped me figure out how it was oriented in the trunk. I did order the new insulator and got it in successfully. That makes a huge difference in noise, you could really hear that pump before since the previous owner installed a brand new pump but just basically set it inside the battery compartment on the metal. Sorry I didn't respond sooner, it was a busy couple of weeks!
