to get more access, I removed the CD changer. The lowest attachment point, once detached permit the Hirschman unit to flex so that the removing the outside retaining chrome bolt lets the unit drop threw the body hole and after disconnection the wiring and cable the unit can be dismantled on a work surface.
Did you find the nylon rolling plates repairable? The engagement tine was sheared off so the whole unit replacement was my only solution.
