I am installing a shift light this week. However, I can't determine where to enter the cabin of the car from the engine bay. Anyone have any experience with this? Basically, from under the hood I don't see anywhere where wires enter the cabin from the engine bay.

I suppose I could run under the car and drill a hole up into the floor area if needed but would rather not go that direction. Thanks for any help in advance.

Thanks for the reminder on the automatic shifting capabilities of the car. However, my car sounds different than your 99 CLK430 as it also shifts manually and does so at a 6,400 RPM redline in manual mode, which is beyond the redline of 6,000 RPM in automatic mode. I understand that this post will not make sense to someone who leaves their car in automatic mode while driving and doesn't take it to the track.

However, for me, when at the track, it is usuful in manual mode to shift around 6,100 RPM (remember that there is a time delay between hitting the shifter and the gear change), in order hit the maximum RPM shift point while avoiding the 6,400 redline cutoff.

Please don't take this wrong, I appreciate your insight into the CLK's transmission capabilities.
