My dash lights render the HVAC knobs uncomfortably hot shortly after the headlights are switched on. Anyone else experience this?

Thanks

i have the same car and my knobs arent hot.

i hate that i dont have a scientific sounding answer for you!

the only thing i can think of is that it is one of two things--

someone replaced the bulbs with the wrong ones or there is too much voltage running through it and its going to melt one day[:p]

RE: hot climate controls more info

The gauge lights are pretty weak, only really helpful when the rheostat is turned up almost fully. If I turn it all the way the dash lights go out. The HVAC lights don't seem excessively bright so I didn't think the rheostat was the problem but I'm beginning to wonder now....

The wiring might be corroded, leading to added resistance and more heat, even if the bulbs are dim. Actually, I think it makes sense that they are dim and there is corrosion. If there wasn't any corrosion they'd probably be bright but have less resistance and would not be hot.
