Hello,

I've got a 1986 190e 2.3 and the hood will not release. When I pulled the release lever, it went back, but did not eject the handle from the grill. When I grab the handle and pull, it will not release.

I'm guessing the cable/rod broke that triggers the handle from the grill. How can I get my hood open?

Thanks,
Will

Have a screw driver with a flat blade and about the diameter of a pencil it is about twelve inches long . Stick it thru the grill insert and below the core support .there is a plastic ribbed guard to protect the cable you need to get it inside this guard and push the lever for the hood release . You may or may not damage the grill insert - just be careful. With a little patience you can get the hood to pop open . The latch arm needs to be pushed from right to left or pass side to drivers side . good luck.
