just wondering what purpose the vent on the hood serves. i have noticed when i was washing the car this vent fills up and does not drain very well. what is this vent and what is its purpose. do i need to take it off and clean it. thanks

open your hood & check your drain cap underneath the vent hood it might be clog.

Where is it?

Joe...is that the little rubber flap that is on the underside of the hood (basically right in front of the steering wheel)? I was cleaning under there today and found the thing full of debris.

There is some pretty nasty looking stuff that growes in there. I cleaned mine last week.

It's important to keep this system clean, as bodywork can rust out and you'll have an interior full of water if you don't.
