Even after replacing the tie rods, I still had a small bit of annoying high-speed vibration. The guy that did the alignment (at Big 10) suggested a good local shop that does high-speed and road-force balancing using a Hunter 9700. I took it there this morning. They said all my tires were in need of balancing, but they found one that needed to be rotated on the rim to “match balance it. I took off on the highway and it’s great. The ML drives like it did on the way home from the factory. I was in up into oh-my-gosh MPH with no vibration; it was smooth as silk.

The place I went to is called Momentum and is right down the road from my house. They specialize in MBZ, BMW, Porsche and Audi. They do everything but bodywork. It’s odd, but I had never really thought much about trying them for any service, but then again, I tend to do it all myself. I spent some time “talking shop with the owner, Rory. He’s a real car enthusiast (unlike the stealership pickpockets). He was really interested in my new brakes. We talked a bit about what he can do and he seems to be very trustworthy. They have a website: www.momentummotorworks.com. I may get them to do a tranny and diff fluid change for me.

Hey Rodney ,

Don't close down the "Grill" will you?. I might push some Electrics your way ..... Switches, Locks, etc.....

Got some great videos (in german) , and diagrams....

A little teaser.....
Don’t worry, Peter, Grill.org is going nowhere - it's here to stay. I just added the “mercedesml.info and “mercedesinfo.net to be easier links to the ML stuff since “Grill has a bunch of other stuff on it like my home improvement projects, vacation photos, etc.

Guess you missed the posts on the m-class mailing list on how the Hunter system is awesome and fixes just about every vibration problem? ;-)
BTW, if you look on their web site, all the MB dealers around me have one...

Now that you mention it, I recall hearing great things about the Hunter system, I just couldn’t remember where. Anyhow, I checked and Crown does have one. They must not know how to use it because they’ve always done a crappy job on balancing for me.

You're not going to beleive this...

So, I’m out at lunch today, driving around running some errands in preparation for vacation next week, and the most bizarre, unexpected thing happens. In fact, I almost had a wreck! My cell phone rings and it’s Rory from Momentum, asking how everything is with the balancing. What sort of place calls a new customer a day after doing a $90 balancing job to ask how it’s working out? Well, I guess one that wants my business.

That is some good service. As far as the one tire that was moved on the wheel, I had the same thing happen once and they indexed the offending tire to the wheel so it was smooth as glass up to 90mph.
