I just bought a beautiful 1979 300SD and am excited to start learning more about the car.

Welcome, as mentioned ask away in the 116 forum.
Note the engine is pretty much the same, a 617, as all turbo 300D's and all SD's. So lurk in the 123 and 126 forums too.
