I filled up my Hydraulic reservoir with PS fluid, I have emptied out most of it, but what where to happen if it was left inside for lubrication until I can flush it out? It's a 1986 560SEL.

Thanks

No pressure, but the pump is almost a grand. What you can do is flush the system: You'll need 5 or 6 qts. of MBZ fluid, a bucket, and some clear plastic hose the right size to connect to the return tube on the top of the res. I first read about the procedure in a book called the MERCEDES-BENZ TECHNICAL COMPANION. First, remove the reservoir, pour out all the fluid, then wash it out, dry. Reinstall the reservoir, but don't place the lid on it. Put the plastic tubing on the return line on one end and in the empty bucket with the other. Fill the clean reservoir full of fresh suspension fluid. Note that it's the color of gin. Now, with the engine running and a buddy or two bouncing up and down on the rear bumper, keep adding fresh fluid until the return fluid you've been pumping in to the bucket is also the color of gin. I know, the fluid is almost $15 qt. Good luck, we're all counting on you.
