Hey all..im 20 years old and just got my e55 about a month and half ago..i absolutely love this car..the way it pulls is amazing..i had the w210 e320 b4 this and also a w211 e350.but they dont compare to this monster . i got my car off paulunm he used to be on this forum. he put h&r springs on it and it handles beautifully. i would love to do some more mods to my car..but dont know where to start on some affordable uprgades.. can anyone help me plz. i also was wondering if there is any intakes made for this car and would it make any performance ups? thanks

there's pretty much nothing you can do to this car that is "affordable" besides the x-pipe mod and pullies. Everything else for this car is very expensive (readverpriced). Headers are at least $1500, most brands are $3000, ecu tune is $1000, supercharger is $15000. not worth modding it at all seeing as how the supercharger is worth more than most E55's complete value.

Frankie is Frankly speaking... start saving that cash for replacement rubber, if your 20 and in S.Cal. then the tires are going to wear fast due to enjoyment !

The "stock" AMG has a hand-built engine, your "mods" are already built-in.

For you, the x-pipe would be the way to go IF (and ONLT IF) that will pass CA smog inspection - some thing tells me it may not as "modified exhaust" but I am no expert on CA smog anymore (I title all my cars here in Arkansas, no smog).

Do a "soft reset" weekly to set the systems back to heavy default.

I'm still 21 and live in the UK and I've had a S500, E320, A8 4.2 40v, S80 T6 SE, Grand Cherokee 4.0, and some other stuff with similar engines. None of these have been expensive to insure as my first car my underpowered 1.3 Skoda.

Insurance on the S500 was £1200 when I was 19 which wasn't too bad when my S80 T6 was £950 most of my friends where paying £1400+ for French shopping trolleys with 1.4 engines.

lol im like the only20 year old thats driving a REAL car out here too.all my friends went out and payed 10 to 15 gs more then me for cars like : honda civic si ..audi a4 2.0t ...the new 3 series..stuff like that.. i mean i understand that these cars are newer and have more features like whipping ur A$$ for u lol.. but who needs a computer to tell u how to drive ur car.. all these new cars just have so much senseless stuff that in my opinion weighs down a car. im not rlly that old to talk about "old fashioned" cuz ive only been driving for 3 years .. but out of all the cars ive driven. i could say the e55 is my favorite..ive driven many cars..like my friends 7 45 and c32 amg and bmw 335..audi s4..m3'sss..and the list goes on.. but in my e55 i can actually feel my car... its not a weird computer trying to make every turn as comfortable as possible..idk maybe im just crazy lool. but i feel like this is one of the greatest cars/engine ever built..its 9 years old and i can literally smoke a brand new carrera s..with my two 12's in the car and 4 ppl.. and the other guy was alone..and he had a stick..and he floored it first..to sum it all up , i think we are all very lucky to own such a marvelous machine..such a masterpiece..coming from an w210 e320 to this , is like a dream come true and i am very grateful.. i thank u guys for all ur help and hope to get to know all my amg brothers ..
