Here is what I am thinking, tell me if I am way off base.

My 88 560 sel has 350,000 miles on it. Was told when I bought it that the top end and tranny were rebult 80,000 miles ago. The car is in good condition and I do not feel the need to get rid of it. I think the timing chain could use being done. I am thinking that I am just going to just let it run its course and not spend the money, and when it breaks, put a rebuilt engine in?????? If the bottom end has that many miles on it, wouldn't that make sense? Where is a good place to get rebuilts and a cost? If anyone thinks otherwise, please let me know!! Thanks!

Do you have paperwork from the place that did the rebuild? Or do you know who did it? If you do not have the paperwork, you can call and ask them if they changed the timing chain. Seems like they would have while they were in there.
