Hello! I just joined the site. I have a 99 SLK 230 Compressor that I drive when it's nice out but my wife drives an POS BMW X5 that we both hate. I'm looking at a 4matic Sedan. I found an 2007 but after researching I've learned of the balance shaft issues, Is there somebody out there that can tell me if the car I'm looking at falls within the ones with the issues? The vin # is WDBUF87X87X215272 . I looked for the engine serial # but couldn't find it.

What model MB is the 2007? If it is an E class please post the VIN at the sticky thread at the top of this W211 R Class forum.

It's an E350. Unfortunately the engine number is 272972 30 458288 and the clean point is 30 468993 so engines after that don't have the balance shaft problem. A quick rule of thumb would be to check the production date, after 10/2006 should be safe, but the only way to tell is to run the VIN and see what the engine serial number is.
