I took my 2007 C230 in today for Service B. Vehicle has 35K miles on it. They're telling me the tires are at the 'wear mark' and should be changed right away and cost $800.

While they might be right and would need to be changed, does anyone have an educated guess as to approx. how many miles I might have on them (at the 'wear mark') before I have to change them?

Also, any one has any good recommendations on where I could find some affordable tires?

look at your tires tread pattern... check the "tread wear bars", these are small vertical bars that form between your treads, if they become flush or at the same level of your tire's tread it is time to replace them

you can also do the "penny test"... take a penny, and place it upside down with Lincoln facing you in the center of the tread, if you can see the very top of Lincoln's head or the copper above it, replace the tires immediately.
If Lincoln's hair on the top of his head is partially visible, it is time to go shopping for tires

Try some local tire shops around your area... they always have the best deal since they purchase their tires in bulk... online check out tirerack.com:thumbsup:

iT's also not a bad time to hunt for new wheels for your car since you'll be replacing all four tires:D
