HELP with License Plate Screws Front and Back

I need help on getting the correct screws for the front and back license plates. The ones that came from the dealer are too long to use without a license frame back and front. I went back to my dealer parts and they said those are the only ones they have for all their cars.....It seems they just have a bin out in the front with miscellaneous screws they hand out to any one pulling into the service dept asking for some. Don't think they know the correct screws so didn't want to waste more time with them.

I tried measuring the screws I have now and I think they are 12mm long.... I need 8mm? I have no idea what screws they are and don't want to spend hours at Home Depot ending up with the wrong ones.

Anyone have part# for MB OEM license plate screws for front and back for the W212? I know this is a minor thing but it's driving me nuts. I just want to mount our plates without any $30 license frame which I have done with all our other cars with no problems.

Thanks

EPC shows OEM front/rear license plate mounting is 0019846429 (5x16), plate to mounting 0019904236 (5x12).
Thanks konigstiger for the info. These are the parts indicated on EPC. However, I went to the dealer with these part #s and they are just for the front license plate.

Part # 0019904236 (5x12) is somewhat of a sheet metal screw which you need since the front license bracket is a hard plastic material and the holes on there need to be threaded by a sheet metal screw so the license plate itself can be screwed securely onto the bracket. This screw is perfect length if you are mounting your front license plate without a license plate frame.

As for part# 0019846429 (5x16) this is a longer screw for mounting the front license bracket to the bumper. Don't need to worry about this one.

The license plate screws for the rear are completely different as there is a metal mounting plate adapter that already has pre-threaded holes. You need metric screws M6 1.0 (1.0 is the thread type). Default length is 16mm but you need 10mm if you wish to mount your rear license plate without a license frame otherwise the longer length will drill marks into the rear lid and with a gap between the plate and the screws. I can't find the M6 with 10mm length at my local hardware store. I will need to stick with the ones that came with our car M6 16mm (part# 007985006197) but will need a license frame on it for it to work.

I know there's not too much on this matter and no one really cares too much if the screws on your car already work. However, dealers just slap on whatever screws they have on their service bin upon delivery and no one knows what screws you really need for the car. This explains why some folks here complain about loose license plates. Anyhow I have attached both the front (left) and rear screws (right).

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to say 'thanks' for the info. I recently purchased a 2008 C300 and had the same license plate woes as described... And it is a personal irritant to me to have the wrong parts which damage the car and don't secure things correctly.

So, for anyone else experiencing this problem: The rear license plate screws for a 2008 C300 screw is definitely a metric "M6-1.0" The thread length might need some customization. I don't have a license plate frame so the 10mm length worked for me. And I got the 'Flat Head' screws which reduce thread length due to the tapering of the screw head. A longer length or head type ('Plat Head') might be better under different configurations.

Cheers.
