You know the ones I mean. Two above each front seat and one above and two behind the rear seats. They each appear to accomodate some type of insert which permits mounting of some type of hook or other accessory.

So my question is where do you get the inserts [and what are they called]? I would very much like to be able to mount some hooks in the rear inserts so I can hang some bicycle wheel covers [I was able to do this pretty easily in my old ML320]?

Thanks for any help!

I Think It's For Those With The Comfort Package, Which I Have, They Give U A Net That Connect There And Covers The Rear.

Those recessed holes are the mounting points for the cargo divider net, which is, IMO, a fairly worthless apparatus. I believe that the cargo mesh divider system may also make use of the mounting holes, but I'm not certain about that.

thinkman and smackjack are absolutely correct re the use. I thought it was a bit useless, but used it for the first time and found it pretty handy. We stacked up the storage section, well above the seat level and this does provide a real safety measure in such cases. It is sturdier than it looks and if it stops items from flying forward in an accident and striking a passenger, not such a bad thing. Like thinkman, got mine with the Comfort package.
