I'm looking rebuild a G class. i.e new diesel, suspension, brakes, the whole ball of wax. Does anybody know who the best guys are to do this sort of work from start to finish? Also whats the best turbo diesel engine with the least amount of electronics. Best model to start with?

Thanks,

I am located Near Chicago. But frankly I would ship the car anywhere in the US if I could find the right shop.

Dennis at Lin-Den Engineering in Denver has recently converted a 300GD to a turbodiesel for a fellow on this list. You can reach Dennis through:

Seach the forum for diesel conversion messges.

If you don't already have a G and you know you want to swap in a 617A turbodiesel, then find yourself a 300 GD. Once you have a 300GD and a donor 617A, then about all you need is a re-core of the radiator to 3 rows, and weekend, couple of buddies and some decent beer. [:)]

Right off the subject, but to show how times have changed, "we have cold beer now" This years boat race was won by Oxford, who had more Americans in the team than Cambridge had Germans.
