I am thinking about window tint on my sedan and would like to get the same tint all around. I am leaning towards 22% Solar gaurd all around except the windshield. A huge concern of mine is night vision.

Can you guys post the quality of night vision, the brand of tint you used, the percentages in the windows, and most importantly pics. Thanks

Thanks for the good advice. My problem is that I see a lot of 35% tint and it seems like there is barely any tint on the window at all. My vision is great, so I guess I am just looking for reassurance that 22% still has acceptable night vision and guarantees my privacy. I am not concerned with tint laws.

Go 20% all around. I've got it on the back of my car (which is the legal limit here) and it is great. I'd like a little darker, but I'm not getting a ticket. You can easily see through 20 at night.
Thank you. That is what I really wanted to hear. Can you guys post pictures please of your tinted W124's

Rather than asking us to do all the leg work for you, go to a reputable tint installer. They have all the varieties of what they sell mounted on glass so you can see for yourself. Do the leg work, do your home work, make your own decisions.

Jayare
Jayare, isn't the point of this forum to discuss car topics and get opinions and advice? I asked about tint because I wanted opinions and advice and value the input of others. If you don't like me asking then take your old cranky ass somewhere else.

FYI: Most of the problems stated in this forum can be resolved by going to a mercedes benz dealership so under your logic, no one really needs to post to this forum.

Anyway, pettiness aside, thank you everyone that responded. All your responses helped me out and i'm sure they helped a good portion of the 110 people who have viewed this thread. I am going to start another thread entitled show me your tints, in hope of attracting more traffic and pics.

Wow, 63 posts and you've called one of the most helpful posters on these message boards...petty. :( His post was optimal advice, tint is pure personal taste, why not choose based on seeing the different levels first hand?

Also, try the search function, as tint has been discussed (including pictures) for years here. You can find the images you want faster (as in right now) rather than waiting for pics to appear on this thread.

Everything Jayare said was flat out right, you should reread his posts being aware he is one of the most helpful posters on these boards, I am not sure, but you may be his first feud. :)

1st: Not all tint shops have all of their available tint on sample glass.

2nd: Seeing tint on one individual glass pane is a lot different than seeing a completed car, as you should know. A small sample of tinted glass does not give the whole story. It doesn't tell you how the cabin feels with all windows tinted or visual clarity at night. I would like to know what it is like to live with different shades of tint on the car, and looking at a sample will not tell me that.

If you didn't understand before, hopefully you do now.

FYI: I'm not trying to pick a fight with anyone. I'm just surprised that when I ask for opinions I get rude comments from "old cranky ass" dudes.

1st: Then you ought to take your business to a shop that does.

2nd: Right, so pictures of cars on the internet are better?

3rd: Jayare is a helpful guy. When you come on here and drop "old cranky ass" on someone like that, you sound like you should be on Facebook and not this site.

Good luck to you.

Signed, an old cranky ass.

Thank you for your input.
FYI: I have a facebook account, and I can maintain an erection.

For those in my situation, it looks like 32% front and 22% rear will be a good setup for my E320. The legal limit for the front windows in MI is nothing, but with 32%, the driver is still visible so I won't attract too much cop attention and conpared to the contrast with the 22% tint, it looks lighter than it is. But I still get a decent amount of sun protection and the cabin will stay pretty cool. Also 32% won't give me issues at night, and 22% through the rear will be managable. I will post before and after pictures as soon as possible. Thanks to those that were helpful.

The exterior of my car is finally complete. It looks so sexy with the tint. I ended up getting 35% front and 20% rear from Ziebart, and they did a pretty good job for $185. I will post more pics with better lighting after my final exams are over. Let me just say that the tint completed the car. I was scared that there was gonna be a big contrast between 35% and 20% but they blended very well. In fact they blended so well that when I first saw the car after being tinted, I thought the shop had tinted the same percent all around. With Solagaurd HP charcoal, the cabin is also now very cool. I Constantly get looks when I go anywhere and everyone thinks the car is worth 4 times more than what it really is. Even those with brand new luxury cars take note. None of my friends can stop gushing about it, and I can't either as you can tell. This car just brings me so much joy I dont know what I would do without. As for the pictures, they do not do this car justice. With the tint I cannot be seen in dark places at night which I love, and in the day time the look of the car is nice. Up close in the sunlight all passengers can be seen, but not from further away. Night vision is perfect, even in dark areas. In some of the pictures the tint looks pitch black but that is just do to improper lighting. Sorry for going on and on but long live the W124.

those rims are sick, where did you get them and for how much. ON my 260e i got 5% in the back and 20% up front. Im 18 and i think im going through a phase so thats why i went so dark.:D BUt in the end i really like how mine turned out and i also paid 180$. is it me or does thats seem a lot??? my friend got his done at the same time at the same shop on his lincoln ls and they only charged him 160$. well any way this is how my car looks...
Thanks a lot man. I got the wheels on Ebay for $475. They are 17X8 inch AMG replicas and my tires are 215/45ZR17 Sumitomo HTR + high performance all seasons. They set my car off. And I was also thinking about 20% Front and 5% Rear but I thought that would get to much attention from the michigan state police, especially because we are not supposed to have any tint on the front. Have you gotten any fix it tickets? But anyway you and me are around the same age so we like our privacy. As for the price I mean around $180 seems reasonable to me for a good professional job. As for your car, if the plastic cladding at the bottom is black, then some black wheels would suit your car real nicely and match the tint and trim.

Hamada, you are probably right. I don't mind the wheel gap, but an inch or two drop would be nice, although I don't want to rub on the tires, hit the front fascia on the ground/curb or make the ride firmer. If you have suggestions of particular springs, let me know. As for you playboy, beware of the haters at your school because they would love to mess with your car especially if you have it looking good.

Wow your convertible looks good with those wheels RHW. I didn't think my car looked that high off the ground, heck it is the stock ride height, but after reviewing my pictures I can see how no fender gap might make it look better. I will consider giving it a mild drop soon. Hopefully I won't have rubbing because I will not tolerate that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Oh, and your right about outside pictures > indoor pictures.

The initial haze that occurs after windows get tinted has cleared up, and the tints now appear to be a little lighter than before. I should have went 20% Front and 5% rear or 20% all around rather than 35% Front and 20% Rear.

I have added some daytime pictures of the tint. Like I said I wish I would have done 20% in the front two windows but I'll leave it as is for now. It's not as dark as I want but I won't get too much attention from the police.

And RHW, you are right about your grille looking good on mine. I might have to get one now. I also want a dual exhaust + diffuser setup similar to the RS4. I am still not sold on lowering it though for practicality reasons.

nice car...you should try putting the sportline suspension on...it will lower it a bit, and its the most practical of all the sport suspensions if you care about the smooth ride
Thank you. Everyone thinks it should be lowered so if it is, then I will go the sportline route.
