My bad............I don't think that I will ever have a "smart phone"...My techno move would still basically be in the "smoke signals" stage when compared to most members here.

Finally, it’s done. As my luck would have it, the shop’s chroming machine broke down just as it was my turn to get a fresh chrome layer on the inside of the projector lens, so the refurbishing process was pretty much dead at that point. The guy was gutted as he couldn’t do the job he promised, so he offered to do a bi-xenon conversion for me pro-bono. All in all, I paid around 200EUR and now I’ve got brand new Bi-Xenon projectors with D1S bulbs instead of my H7 bulbs, and he also changed my positioning lights with LEDs to match the new headlights. He also came good on the polishing, cleaning and ceramic coating of the outside lens of the headlights, the car looks brand new compared to before. The new lights are DAZZLING! You could perform surgery under them, though I wouldn’t recommend it 😂 I’m going to get them professionally aligned in a few days just to make sure I’m not blinding my fellow drivers. Also when I turn on the full beam now I get the Bi-Xenon plus the old full beam bulbs, so it’s like the sun has appeared when I flick them on. Anyway, here are some pics from the car, the old projector lenses, and the mechanisms involved.

And after the conversion:

Here are the old H7 projection lenses and the curious little left to right hand drive conversion mechanism I found out about today. The whole projector can be removed and changed or cleaned without opening or even removing the headlights from the car:

On the pic above the lens has already been cleaned, it was really dirty and yellowed.

Awesome to hear!! you will love the Bi-Xenons. However, the bulbs are expensive when they burn out. But I just replaced with cheap chinese D1S bulbs and replacing them frequently is still much cheaper than buying 1 new brand name bulb. $200 each vs $20 for a pair.
Anyway, the factory Bi-Xenon cars have a jet washer spray for the headlights. It is important to keep the headlights clean when using the HID lights, as they give off a lot of heat. If there is debris (bugs) stuck to the lens, it may cause burn in and pitting. So keep these clean! Good Luck and Congrats!

This sound like some gold star advice to me sir, thanks! I will give them a wipe next time I get in the car.

I assume retrofitting jet washers would be a pain in the ass not worth having, right?

You can also get D1S bulbs from Phillips in Germany at a fraction of any dealer quote...(I've never burnt a DIS bulb yet..much more than 15 years so far..but I've bought a couple of spares from Germany..)

Sounds like you received one sweet deal on that headlight conversion. Great news..!..and enjoy the bright white night view.

Time for another update, someone might find my troubles helpful in the future:

So I took the car to a lighting professional to assess the problem and talk about my options. He confirmed that the projector lens is damaged/foggy/dirty and is causing the poor lighting conditions and said that the best route would be to change the projector with a new one, without changing the whole headlights because the main headlight lens is pretty clear and undamaged, other than a bit of grayness. However, there are no new projectors for a H7 light fixture in stock, only for Xenons, so that option is a no-go for me as well. Luckily, the guy does a restoration service for such cases, where he takes apart the old projectors, re-chromes the interior, polishes and cleans the projector lens, and while they are at it the clean and polish the main headlight lenses inside and out and apply a protective ceramic coating to the outside lens as well. This whole deal will cost me around 150 EUR, which is half the price of a single new headlight, so it's an excellent deal for me.

I'll try and take several photos before and after, both aesthetically in the daytime and to show the light output at night, so that I can show the difference (hopefully). Updates will be posted in the next week or so.
