Today I decided to fix my broken passenger side rear window on my CLK430 conv. Took everything apart found the broken part (plastic piece that holds the ends of the cable. dealer told me $160 for an entire new regulator. So I said no thanks I'll check online. So I unhooked the window from the power at the window near the motor put everything back together then I looked at the top as it lay in the trunk area folded down and decided this would be a good time to clean the latch handle mechanism. Scrubbed it really good with a wet rag (ceaned up nicely) except I think I got some water in the latch/handle. I went to try to put the top back up -- it ran for a second or two then stopped. First I figured it must have something to do with the rear window being disconnected from power (a sensor perhaps) reconnected it --nothing.Then I thought perhaps there is a sensor in the latch/handle that shorted when it got wet and is telling the system it is locked closed in the "up" position. when I try to lift or push down on the top button it just flashes red and I hear nothing happening. Anyone have any ideas? I can't manage to pull the top up manually is there a trick? I used to be able to do that sometimes when it was in between cycles. any help is appreciated!

Well, I thought everything was good; top went back up was able to secure for the rain. Now my windows are not working, the top is non-op, and the roll-over bars won't go up or down (red light on the button stays on with the roll bar button as well as the conv. top button) ????????????????????????? any ideas?

You need to read the fault codes now.

Switch is slow blinking or fast blink when you operate it? If slow it sounds like the relay. rollbars and top are both powered by the same relay

Wow, went to check to see how the light was flashing and everything is working fine now! (except of course the broken rear window regulator).Must have reset itself somehow. Now I can hone in on that. Anyone know if they are riveted in and where to get one at a good price? Saw some regulators online much cheaper than the dealer but they only stated right and left no rear window and wasn't sure of the quality.
