Today I decided to fix my broken passenger side rear window on my CLK430 conv. Took everything apart found the broken part (plastic piece that holds the ends of the cable. dealer told me $160 for an entire new regulator. So I said no thanks I'll check online. So I unhooked the window from the power at the window near the motor put everything back together then I looked at the top as it lay in the trunk area folded down and decided this would be a good time to clean the latch handle mechanism. Scrubbed it really good with a wet rag (ceaned up nicely) except I think I got some water in the latch/handle. I went to try to put the top back up -- it ran for a second or two then stopped. First I figured it must have something to do with the rear window being disconnected from power (a sensor perhaps) reconnected it --nothing.Then I thought perhaps there is a sensor in the latch/handle that shorted when it got wet and is telling the system it is locked closed in the "up" position. when I try to lift or push down on the top button it just flashes red and I hear nothing happening. Anyone have any ideas? I can't manage to pull the top up manually is there a trick? I used to be able to do that sometimes when it was in between cycles. any help is appreciated!
