hey man... first, swap coil packs to see if it is the coil pack, before replacing it.... any other codes or symptoms?

....duh! sorry about my v6 and v8 confusion! ....v8 cylinder layout is 1 front to 4 rear on passenger side and 5 front to 8 rear on driver side ...

...btw, a misfire on rear cylinders could also be because your cat(s) may be/are plugged up ...good luck!

Actually, for either of the ones in your profile it's the passenger side firewall.

RKBAD, please edit or delete your post so others happening on the thread won't be confused. (Mod, please do so if RKBAD doesn't check back.)

Dean, the M119 was also known for having ignition wire connector problems, so I'd take a hard look at that, too. I'd probably just swap connector and wire with #3 and see if the misfire moves. If so you know the coils are good.

Plugs are 30K items IIRC for the M119, so if it's been a while pop in some new ones. Nothing fancy, just the regular ones.

Just recently I had an occasional cylinder #2 misfire due to bad coil on my 97 E420 and I changed also the plugs a couple of weeks ago. One of the easiest plug changes on a modern V8 vehicle I've ever made.

I've only had the car for 5K miles, but looking at the old plugs, I'd say it was about time. It had some Bosch Platinum Plus 2, but I put the regular copper Bosch F8DC4's in there. That's what it came from the factory with, anyway.

Assuming you've fixed what triggered the light, yes. You could also disconnect the battery, step on the brake pedal for 30 seconds and then reconnect and run the resets. I'd suggest the former, in a few days it should go out.

Glad she's running nice for you.

Or go buy an OBDII scanner and reset it with that. Chances are, you'll need it also in the future. ;)
