Heavy rain came through and leaked through passenger side of trunk. A lot of moisture on everything on the passenger side. Battery, battery cables, the panel by all the wires. Is there anything in the passenger side of the trunk that would be effecting the cars ability to stay working drive and reverse? I pulled the battery and it's fine. I checked the fuel pump relay put and it was fine as well. Is there anything else that will be the cause?

I'm assuming it idles fine and stalls when you put it in gear. Does the engine hold a high rev? If so, how does it perform? Codes?
Well the car stays on in park, but the idle isn't smooth like before. Once it begins to warm up in gets worse and eventually turns off at proper warm up temperature. I haven't pulled any codes cause of how tedious the process is with the pins and I have been working a lot. Is there anything that could have possible gotten too wet that would be causing the issue? Sometimes at cold temperature I can drive the car with no issues until it warms up..

I'm assuming it won't hold a high rev. You've likely got a fuel or an electrical issue. I'd start by eliminating fuel delivery/contamination.

Yeah I figured that. Anything for specific? Or related to the anything in the trunk? Cause their is still water leaking to the passenger side of the trunk.

There’s a fuse box back there too, right? Have you checked it?

There's a little fuse area near the top of the trunk area. All wet. But nine of the fuses have anything to do with ignition or fuel. Is there another fuse box back there? The only other area I know is under the hood. But those are dry.
No, none are ignition or fuel related, but the moisture could be causing a short. How that affects the engine running? I don’t know. But if it was me I would ensure all fuses are dry and not blown.

At this point, I'd say stop focusing on the trunk, and start with the basics: air, fuel, spark. And since this is post heavy rain, I'd start with spark.

Also, kudos for giving your model and year. Adding it to your profile helps us even more. I'll usually look at your last post's profile info and expect that's the car we're discussing.

How bad is the flooding in your area? Did the water possibly get half way up the rear wheels (near the fuel pump and trunk vents) while driving or parked?

Is this possibly an engine wiring harness issue showing up in wet conditions?

Did you fill up with fuel just prior to the issue arising? With so much rain in you area (edit), is it possible you received water contaminated fuel?

It's unusual for even heavy rain to be entering the trunk on an R129. How is it entering... thru the trunk seal, tail light or antenna seal or trunk vents?

A lot of the water is starting to dry up in the trunk lid. I'm assuming that's where all the moisture is coming from since that spot is still the most wet in the trunk. The car just sat with heavy rain fall. Water was maybe up to the top tire level like touching the frame of the car.

Moisture tends to condense on the trunklid and other surfaces in a trunk. The pictures look like it's maybe been moist in the trunk for a while, but I agree with others that perhaps something else is the larger problem. From what you described, it may be that water is affecting other components elsewhere in the car. It may be tough to narrow down as the car continues to dry out.

Perhaps remove the engine cover and inspect the ignition wires for moisture (and general condition) and inspect the other visible wiring for any deterioration. If there is moisture visible under the engine cover, does it look like water may have gotten into the distributor cap area at the front of the motor? (my car has a different ignition system, so someone else can offer you more help there if needed). If you run the motor with the engine cover off, you may see or hear arcing from the ignition wires if they are failing.

Perhaps do a fuel pressure test or have it done (it is easy with a common schrader valve type tester, the access port is at the front of the fuel rail).

Is your gas cap on properly (and didn't allow water into the gas tank)?

Yeah I checked under the hood cover right away engine bay is completely dry. The trunk area is beginning to dry out. I guess until it's dry I won't know what's going on. I'm assuming the wet cables going to the fuses for the windows is causing a short but honestly hard to tell what's going on right now.

Gas cap is always on correctly. Nothing going on there..
