It got a little chilly today, so I tried out the heated seats on my new ride. They work...kind of.

Both heat nicely on the lower back and the side bolsters.

The center of both lower cushions don't seem to work much, if at all.

How can this be fixed? Is it relatively inexpensive? It would be nice to have these working up to their full capabilities, but I have other maintenance items that need addressing first so cost is the deciding factor on whether this gets fixed or not.

Search the site;

somebody was posting about replacing OEM with some aftermarket carbon fiber heat units. I installed the carbon fiber seat heaters on my boat and was very happy with them.

My experience is that the OEM seat heaters aren't all that powerful, but it just may be mine. My only other heated seats that I lived with daily were the ones I put on the boat and the ones that came with my Chrysler 300 and both of those would run you out of the car on high after a bit even in very cold weather. The ML seats get perceptibly warm on high, but not a whole lot more, but it could just be mine. My vehicle is rarely left outside for long in cold weather, so I've never given it the test my 300 had of trying to warm my butt at twenty below when it had been outside all night. The boat heaters were just to keep mama happy in a cold wet climate, cause if mama ain't happy, nobody's happy.
