I have a clk 500. and this past week the heated seat would not turn on. so i took the seat out and found a torn wire. i repaired the wire and the seat went on. Well last night it was could enough to use i turn it on and boom! only the back of the seat is warming up and not the bottom. How do i replace the bottom heating element or check if that the failure..please help its getting cold !!! LOL

Can you use a test meter? If so, check the heating element resistance at the following connectors under the seats. (they should not be open-circuit)

X55/3
between pin 1 & pin 4. This is R13/1. left front seat heated cushion
between pin 3 & pin 2. This is R13/2. left front backrest heated cushion

X55/4
between pin 1 & pin 4. This is R13/3. right front seat heated cushion
between pin 3 & pin 2. This is R13/4. right front backrest heated cushion

Fuse & earth are common between seat & backrest elements, so it cannot be that cause. :thumbsup:
