This is probably a stupid question but.. Is the headrest NOT supposed to go all the way down? I tried moving the seat all the way up front but it still leaves about 1" gap between the top of the backrest and bottom of the headrest. It's like that for both the driver and passenger seat. I had the E350 2009 model before this one and the previous one, I was able to bring the headrest all the way down.

Do I need to go to the dealer to get this set or something? I'd appreciate any feedback! Thanks!

Mine does the same way.

I read an info about headrest , it was like when you lower the headrest the seat automatically moves forward for safety reasons because the car thinks you're a small person and therefore you are adjusting the seat like that
Try this , push the seat cushion button all the way forward and then try to readjust your headrest ,may be it makes difference

I ended up calling the dealing. He said there's a gap about 1"-2" after it's down all the way. Why would they build it like that? Doesn't make sense to me.

Mike747: What year model do you have? And I'm only 5'2". I think I'm more qualified on the "short" section of people. :D

I just checked and with the headrest all the way down I have less than a 1/4" gap between the bottom of the headrest and the top of the seat. My car is a 2014 E350 4matic, sport edition.

I have the 2014 E350 4matic, luxury edition. I just measured between the bottom of the headrest and the top of the seat and there's about 1-7/16" gap.

Again... I don't get the point of that gap...

I bet there's something can be done about it, and cheaply. Either manually pushing it further down (if it'll go further), or removing it and removing (with a hacksaw) an inch or two of the rods. It won't be an impossible problem.

As far as the difference between you and other owners could it just be seat style? Does one of you have the heated and ventilated or multi contour seats and the other doesn't?

I know you are not happy with the height but to say they are all not the same may be explainable.

Good point. I have the heated/cooled seats with message and active contours - all the bells and most of the whistles. Also, adjustable lumbar, though they probably all have this.

I was supposed to take it in yesterday for the dealer to take a look and see if anything can be done but had things come up. So I'll be taking it in next week. I'll keep you guys updated!

Doug: You do make a good point. But I still don't see any reason for leaving that big of a gap on the headrest... For people short like me.. it's bit uncomfortable.

My seat has the heated (no cooling) and has the adjustable lumbar.

I just saw a youtube of how the headrest pops up. Just from watching that, if I were to get in an accident and the headrest pops, it'll be popping at the upper part of my head instead of where it should. Isn't that going to be a safety issue???

See if you can show the dealer that video on your phone/tablet while you're there.

This may or may not answer your question but here goes.
I have a 211 wagon with the premium leather package.
My wife has a sedan with normal leather seating inserts.
My wagon with premium leather has larger seats with more features and the headrest go all the way down.
My wife’s car the headrests stop short of the seat like yours.

I would suspect the 212's may be the same as our 211’s?
