Hellow everyone

I have 2004 W211 and it came with Halogen lights, i want to upgrade it but I don’t know which one i should go with LED or HID xenon?
Which one is safer, i wanna avoid any voltage mismatch or any errors could happen!

Personally I preferred the HID xenon but I don’t know if adding aftermarket one could lead to any voltage issues, i mean not any aftermarket products that will work with MB?
So any one tried it before? Any experience you have guys will be appreciated..

Thank you

The main problem with these upgrades is that they will cost a lot more than you think. The projectors are only designed for halogen. An LED or HID setup will not be DOT approved although they will all say it's fine but it's meant for off road use. You'll end up blinding other drivers with mismatched projectors. And while it might appear brighter at short range, because they're not designed specifically for that bulb, long range vision might actually suffer. Your best bet is to just get brighter halogens. Only drawback with those is that the brighter they are, the sooner they burn out.

In a projector you will always want to do HID over LED. Unless it’s a specific proprietary led projector, your best bet is to do an HID setup. You have to go with a Canbus ballast in order for it to work without Flickering, error codes on the dash, and it functioning all together. I can go into the pros and cons but regardless what others say, HID’s will provide the best light output. I can send you what I have used. They will create 0 issues, and ECU will see the proper voltage/draw. Let me know. Halogens are terrible and you can get away with HID’s if you have factory projectors. Cheers

a error canceller can work but be careful because not all cancellers work. If you get a Hylux HID kit that has it all built in. Personally doing a retrofit with a HID projector is the way to go for the best performance. I have a 2004 E500 with factory projectors and hids but I will be doing a better set of projectors that are much better than factory and a few extras along with colour matching the inside. I’ve been doing retrofits for over 10 years but now more as a hobby. I will be doing these in the next month and post pictures and a video.

Is this installing aftermarket headlights or replacing the projector in OE headlights?

this picture isn’t the E500 it’s just an example of a set of projectors I installed in another vehicle.. but I will be doing a better set of projectors into the OE headlights to get better output.
