I was having issues getting the fog lights to work and the headlight switch felt wierd, kind of crunchity and lumpy feeling. I removed switch and it rattles. Went and dug out a spare and it rattles too?

So I dissected the worst sounding unit and it looks like the image. That is some failure of the plastic. What where they thinking when they engineered these things?

Ordered a new switch with expedited shipping.

Man that is not good! that is completely disintegrated! Where did you get the replacement switch from? Mine just went and I need to get a new one - going to check with the dealer this morning.

Cheers - Eric

MB dealer is two hours away and has to order the switch anyhow, so I ordered online from Pelican Parts, $84.75, Genuine MB. Should be here tomorrow.
