I saw Mantist's SLK in Vegas this past weekend. He added HID projectors to his car which originally had OEM Xenons. He told me it was a 15 minute plug and play swap and he continued using the OEM ballasts. I didn't ask him if he used the OEM Xenon bulbs in his projectors, so perhaps he will post clarification on the bulbs used.

I have installed a set of those projector headlights from ebay. It was almost plug and play. Took an hour to do the first one due to fitment (tried to cut corners) issue. The second one was real easy. All I did was removed the whole oem light assemblies with the ballasts stuck on the bottom, taped and protect the headlight alignment connectors, reused the turn indicator bulbs/sockets. On the projectors, I had to file down the bulb socket a bit in the bulb housing for the new xenon bulbs to fit. It is a known issue. Nothing is resusable from the original light assemblies except for the turn signal bulbs. Usually, the xenon bulbs and the ballasts are purchased from the same ebay vendor. Bulbs style is H1.

For the LED taillights, 15 minutes installation.
