Is there any reliable non-damaging plastic HL cover repair method? Seems that the opacity and discoloration on the HL covers OUGHT to be some kind of warranty... Have two vehicles, the newer a 2004 ML which have very questionable road lighting due to lens degradation.

There is a detailing forum in the technical section. This has been discussed and there are a couple of fairly easy solutions. Just scroll down from here and you should see it. All of these headlight lenses do this eventually.

Meguiar's Plastx is the easiest way to do it.
I actually used folded paper towel, Black Magic Wheel Polish, rub, wipe off then Meguiar's Plastx, rub, wipe off.
Wheel polish is for wheels, sounds too much for lens but it's actually a creamy substance, I think it's way better than using the coarse pads that come in some lens restoration kit. The coarse pad scratch the lens if too much pressure is applied while rubbing.
