I've seen it somewhere on this site before, but I'm looking for the part number or name of the small level that is located under the vehicle near the transmission fluid pan. I'm trying to find whereto purchase this.

also, what is the function of this part?

How does it work?

Updated Edit:http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210-e-class/1530387-what-part-what-does-do.html

I found an old thread of mine, I seem to have forgot about it.
Where can I find this?

Does it move the Xenon bulb when needed?
There are two points of contact for the self leveling headlamps on the 210...one on the rear suspension and one on the front. When you have this (I do) you will see the lamps rise as you turn them on. Thereafter they keep the lamps level as you drive along, though you will not be aware of this really.

In your original thread the connecting rod was clearly broken...I advised you then that you only need the rod...part number: 210 328 09 34

Look in here:

??????

Choose my car, the 210226, then open subsection 35 rear axle, then 080 and you will have diagrams and part numbers of the headlamp self leveling. The part number for the rod is correct (I have one so I am actually looking at it as I type) but the descriptions of the other parts are suspect since they talk about the front axle but the mechanism (as shown) is correct for the rear.

The actual sender front and rear is the same, but, obviously the attachemnts and rods etc are different. You can find the front in sub section 33 and then go to sub section 035.

The part is about $14.

Hope this helps.

Yes. It aims the lightbeam higher or lower depending on car angle. I think primarily for oncoming drivers, but it may also be for your view of the road.
Yes it is designed so that oncoming traffic is not dazzle and to maintain the correct angle for driving at all times. When the rod breaks the usual thing is for the lamps to light up the tops of trees...not very useful.

I can't believe I missed that part # for the rod itself. Thanks man. Now I'm trying to find a place that sells this.

I remember test driving a 90's CL the coupe for the W140 that had this xenon level feature. It was aww inspiring. Please post if you know who sells this.

There are two black tabs on top of the headlamp itself. You'll have to open the hood and observe. Turn the black tabs clockwise or counter clockwise to give your desired height. One makes the lamp go up or down. The other turns it left or right.
