A friend of mine as suggested that the second pull-out for the fog lights may have been intended for a resistor cut-off that would have enabled a brighter, second fog light lamp--does anyone know how the switch is wired? I have searched the archives and the online 107 manual, but found nothing that indicated it. In both my 78 450 and the 86 560, the second pull does nothing and, the fog lights only work with the headlamps on, brights off. This seems counter intuitive to me as regular headlamps tend to make actual fog worse than better. This is important to me since I am shipping the 560 to Pennsylvania once the timing chain is replaced for my daughter to drive while she is in school there. We don't get much fog here in Minnesota, but they do where she is.

TIA-

I read somewhere that the second detent is for the rear fog lamps that come on Euro models.
The low-beam+fog-lamp arrangement is normal. My wife's modern BMW works the same way.
Thanks, Dugald. I think it would be nice to use to power more lights or to change it to run the fog lamps alone. I remember cars being able to do that--in fact, IIRC, my 84 Porsche did it--fog lamps only.
