Hi all, I poked a small hole, 1/10" in diameter, on the head cover..... I wonder how I may repair it. What's your suggestion? Thanks.

Do you mean the valve cover?

If so, I'd just put some JB weld or metal epoxy on it. Make sure to take the cover off the car and clean it up really well first so that there's no oil where you do the repair. Then sand it down and touch it up with some high-temp black paint.

But do you think epoxy might 'melt' at such high temperature? Will I loose oil pressure if there's a hole?

Okay, I think I will just go with JB Weld, since it withstands temperature up to 500F.

You have an 8v, those can be found in copious JY's the valve cover can be generally pretty easy to come by.

Okay, since you guys are curious..... here my embarrassment goes... Well, I was trying to remove the airbox damper that screws into the valve cover. But the rubber ripped right off, left with the metal part screwed into the cover. As I was trying to get under the metal to get more leverage with a screw driver, I poked a hole there with a hammer. There you go...... sounds stupid. Since the hole is small, I'll just JB weld it for now. In the future when I get a valve cover, I might paint it first before swapping.

Nope, I didn't get it off after I poked the hole. It's because the hole and the damper are so close that I might end up punching a bigger hole there. I think to remove that, you might have to take the whole cover off first, and twist off the damper from the inner side, if there's an access (I've never seen the underside, so don't know). Otherwise, I will leave it on for good, and put some epoxy to glue that ripped rubber back.

For what it's worth, the next time you have your valve cover off, you might as well replace your camshaft gasket, your lower front timing chain cover gasket, not to mention the valve cover gasket as well.
