Have we seen this kind of breakage before? All the buttons on these cars are so indestructible, and often fixable if they do go wrong.
I said 'thanks' with my hazards earlier on the motorway but they wouldn't switch off. Pulled over and took out the fuse before I confused any more people. Obviously this meant I had no indicators or stereo, meh.

At home when I got back today I took it apart and found this red plastic 'arm' had broken off. There's two of them and it needs both. Haven't seen this happen before on here, but I guess it's done its job after 35 years.

Are the red button sections available separately I wonder, maybe. If so that's very cool.

It took 10 minutes to remove the stereo and climate panel to replace the switch with one from my spares car so all is good.

Yes, I've seen this and repaired it. Can't speak to the durability because it was in my Dad's car and I don't know the current status.

Yeah must be a thing in the hotter climates eventually I thought.
