As in computer chip for your car's ECU (engine's brain). Most new cars have them.

Its a system that regulates the functions of your car's engine using sensors. It allows for maximum efficiency and engine longetivity.(i.e. if you lack oil pressure your ECU will pick it up and it'll give you a warning light)

People upgrade these 'chips' to change the factory settings of the ECU for increased performance. Aftermarket chips change the timing, shifting points (as it eliminates the rev limit across the end of the powerband).

Re: How did you make out?

Did the chip make a big difference?
I'm thinking of getting it done to
a 430.

You can let reprogramm your chip oder build in ...

front of the chip a seperate additional box. These 2 types of chip-tuning are possible in germany.
In germany the speed of the clk ist automaticly stopped by reaching 250km/h. So I think the best is to build an additional box in front of the chip, to switch off this limit. You can put this box away for visits by your mercedes dealer or any guarantee - things.
So first you have to think about, what you want to change. If you send your email to me, I will give you a list of Tuner in germany, who make this.
Regards - Manfred
