Hi Everybody,
It's now almost exactly a year since I first spotted a certain large silver motorcar for sale in the classifieds. I'd always fancied a SL500 but a little research on Benzworld and with gas at about £6/gallon, I decided that you would need to be stark raving bonkers to buy one. And so I bought it .
Well a year on, I have no regrets - the car turned out to be a good one with only a few routine things to fettle. One of the best aspects of R129 ownership has been 'meeting' you guys (and gals?, who knows?) through Benzworld. Your experience, knowledge and humour has been priceless, so Thank You very much. I especially enjoy chewing the fat with members from far away lands, although the photos of clear blue sunny skies get a bit much when it's a foggy minus 7C here :(.

So Happy Christmas to you and your families from Steve and Felicity in the mighty metropolis of Channels End (pop 24), Bedfordshire, England. See you next year .

HAHA I am glad you are bonkers and enjoying your SL.

Wow, that's around $9.50 a gal if it were in the States. That can add up quickly.

Merry Christmas to you and your family as well.

Wow, given the present currency Euro/GBP that is way more then in Holland right now.
And i thought we were one of the most expensive countries in Europe.
I guess you guys are very happy with your new PM:D

Happy Christmas to you and your family Steve:)

Thanks for your wishes cec,
Slightly bigger Imperial gallon here of course, but still very expensive (80% tax I believe and probably equates to about $7.50 - $8 dollars per US gallon). The silver lining is that SL's have become surprisingly affordable. Yes, I enjoy SL ownership but it has to be limited mileage, but that only makes the experience more special....:)
Regards
Steve

It's weird seeing a guy with "Santa hat" wearing a short! It's below freezing here during the days!

BTW, not to ruin your Xmas but your SL is leaking profusely LOL.

Happy holidays everyone!

Mike,
This is the second photograph you have posted in as many weeks, that involves sunshine, blue skies and palm trees. And the shorts just made it worse. Please stop immediately, it's just too cruel. I took my lesser daily driver (German, 3 initials beginning with B, but don't tell elbeik) for it's annual test today and had to chip 1/2" thick ice off the license plates so the guy could read them. It still failed.....:(.

Very Merry Christmas all ,, learnt a great deal here ,, due to nice folks,,
Be well and those in UK ,, my heart goes out to you
Thanks Joe,
Keep your head down over there, hope things don't kick off :(. I drove 185 miles today (no not the SL), from North Wales where it was -10C home to Bedfordshire where it rose to a toasty -5C. Not nice with frozen screen wash, but we made it in one piece. I think we are just going to have to think more Scandanavian or Canadian should Winters continue like this .
Happy Christmas
Steve
